Important Update: Due to the safety of our team, we are no longer able to make appointments for dogs that have aggressive tendencies. This includes dogs that are fear aggressive and/or territorial. It is best that these pets are seen at a full-service veterinary hospital where heavy sedation is an option.

Cat Vaccines in Raleigh: What You Need to Know

Cat-Vaccines-in-Fayetteville_-What-You-Need-to-Know

Part of being a responsible pet parent is doing everything you can to help ensure that your four-legged friend enjoys a long, healthy, and happy life. One of the most effective ways to do that is by having them vaccinated. Unfortunately, there are a lot of misconceptions surrounding pet vaccinations, especially for cats. If your feline friend is due for cat vaccines in Raleigh, keep reading to learn a bit more about why they are so important.

What Vaccinations Do Cats Need?

According to state law, all cats must be vaccinated against rabies once they reach four months of age. While this is the only vaccine mandated by law, however, several others are equally important. Known as core vaccines, these vaccinations are recommended for nearly all cats (even if they are kept strictly indoors). Most often, cats are given their core vaccination in the form of the FVRCP vaccine, which protects against feline viral rhinotracheitis, calicivirus, and panleukopenia. If your cat goes outside, we may also recommend the non-core FeLV vaccine, which protects against the feline leukemia virus

Keeping your cat up-to-date on their vaccinations is important. Even if your feline friend does not go outside or spend time around other animals, there is always a risk that they could be exposed to potentially deadly diseases. Cats are crafty, too, and even the most well-behaved pet can dart out a door and escape into the outside world in a fraction of a second. Keeping your cat’s vaccinations up-to-date means they’ll be protected against any diseases they may encounter.
