Whether you have a brand-new puppy or kitten in your family, or you’ve recently brought home an older animal with an unknown vaccine history, it’s smart to start them on a vaccine schedule as soon as possible. The rabies vaccine is, of course, required for all dogs and cats over four months of age. Other vaccines that we may recommend for your dog include the DAPP vaccine (which protects against distemper, adenovirus, parvovirus, and parainfluenza), as well as vaccines for leptospirosis, bordetella, Lyme disease, and/or canine influenza.

For cats, we may recommend the FVRCP vaccine (which protects against feline viral rhinotracheitis, calicivirus, and panleukopenia. The FeLV (feline leukemia virus) vaccine is also commonly recommended.

Telling us about your pet’s lifestyle, such as whether your cat goes outside or if you take your dog to dog parks, doggy daycare, etc., will help us determine which vaccines are appropriate for their needs.
