Having your dog or cat microchipped is a smart decision that can help your pet find his or her way back home if they ever become lost. How Microchipping Works
A microchip is roughly the size of a grain of rice and is inserted under the skin between your pet’s shoulder blades using a needle. The procedure takes a few moments and is similar to a routine vaccination.
Each microchip contains a number that, upon registration, is linked to an account with your personal information. If someone brings your lost pet to a vet’s office, shelter, rescue, etc., rescue personnel will scan your pet for a chip. The scanner will display the chip’s registration number, which shelter or veterinary staff can use to retrieve your contact information, providing you and your pet a swift and happy reunion.
Maintaining up-to-date contact information in the microchipping database is crucial to ensure a seamless reconnection with your pet if they become lost. This simple step greatly enhances the chances of a successful reunion, providing peace of mind for you and your companion.
